Steve Overland - If You Love Someone Set Them Free

 Steve Overland is a British singer/musician who was the lead vocalist and songwriter for the bands Wildlife, FM, The Ladder, Shadowman, and his own group, Overland.

Overland's nearly 30-year career began in his home region of East Anglia, where he and his brother Chris formed the band Wildlife in 1980. The group were scouted by Adam Faith and soon signed to Chrysalis Records, who released the band's debut album, Burning, in 1980. The band moved labels to the Led Zeppelin owned Swan Song Records for their 1983 self-titled follow up album, which featured Simon Kirke on drums. The band were also managed for a short period by Peter Grant. The demise of Swan Song in 1983 meant that the Wildlife album was under-promoted, with an American release for the album being cancelled. Around this time, the band also recorded a song called "Shot in the Dark" that was never featured on an album. However, this tune later served as the prototype for Ozzy Osbourne's song of the same name. Wildlife's version was never officially released, and the band split up soon after.

Overland next formed the AOR band FM, with former Wildlife members Pete Jupp and Chris Overland. FM's first album, issued in 1986 on Portrait Records, was named Indiscreet. The band's next album, Tough It Out, was released in 1989 with serious financial backing from Epic Records, which was Portrait's parent company. For this album, the band brought in songwriter Desmond Child, known for his work on Bon Jovi's album, Slippery When Wet. This 1986 to 1989 period saw the band at their commercial peak, scoring minor UK Chart hits with "Frozen Heart", "Bad Luck", and the non-album release, "Let Love Be The Leader". The band toured as headline artists, as well as undertaking support slots with Bon Jovi, Tina Turner and Meat Loaf.

The band was then dropped by Epic Records and signed to Music for Nations for their third album, Takin' It to the Streets. The album displayed a shift towards a more straightforward rock approach and also included a cover of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", which was released as a single. This was the first album to feature ex-Visage and ASAP guitarist Andy Barnett, Chris Overland having left the band after the Tough It Out tour. FM's fourth album, Aphrodisiac, followed in 1992 and is often considered to be the band's best. The band then signed to the Raw Power label to record Dead Man's Shoes, which featured new keyboard player, Jem Davis. In March 1996, Steve Overland and Pete Jupp decided to disband FM, forming the band So! with Wishbone Ash bass player, Bob Skeat, soon after.^[6] So!'s debut album, Brass Monkey, had two very limited releases, with copies of either release being difficult to come by.

Overland has recorded prolifically throughout the 2000s (decade), with the bands The Ladder, Shadowman, and latterly, with his solo albums, Break Away and Diamond Dealer.^[10]

In 2007, FM reformed for a one-off gig at Nottingham's Rock City, headlining Firefest IV. This 'one-off' reunion led to a more permanent incarnation with Jim Kirkpatrick replacing Andy Barnett on lead guitar. Overland and Kirkpatrick had been a songwriting team independently of the band prior to Jim joining FM. FM have since toured extensively in the UK and throughout Europe, both as headliners and also touring with Thin Lizzy, Journey, Foreigner and Europe. Five more albums have been released Metropolis (2010), Rockville (2013), Rockville II (2013), Heroes and Villains (2015) and Atomic Generation (2018).

Overland has also appeared in the Broadway show Dreamtime, which had a successful run at the Ed Sullivan Theater.

Sinergy - Rock You Like a Hurricane

Sinergy fue un supergrupo finlandés de Power metal, formado con la idea de crear una banda de metal liderada por una voz femenina.

Dicha idea surge cuando la entonces teclista de Dimmu Borgir Kimberly Goss conoce a Jesper Strömblad, guitarrista de In Flames durante una gira conjunta alrededor del mundo. Pero debido a falta de tiempo, por compromisos con sus respectivos grupos, no pudieron concretar la idea.

Cuando Kimberly dejó Dimmu Borgir y se mudó a Suecia, decidió con Strömblad que era hora de llevar a cabo el proyecto. Dicho proyecto recibiría el nombre de Sinergy. Para esto recurrieron a los servicios del guitarrista Alexi Laiho (de Children of Bodom), del bajista Sharlee D'Angelo (de Arch Enemy) y del baterista Ronny Milianowicz (de Dionysus).

El álbum debut Beware the Heavens fue grabado en 1999 y tenía un concepto básico: regresar a la esencia de las bandas metal con voz líder femenina, dejando a un lado los elementos de ópera introducidos en los 90 y retomando el estilo de cantantes como Doro Pesch (de Warlock). El disco vendió bastante bien y fue recibido con entusiasmo por los fanes del metal en Europa, pero Sinergy enfrentaba serios problemas a la hora de manejar el tiempo que sus miembros dedicaban a sus bandas principales.

Para complicar más las cosas, Kimberly se mudó a Finlandia a finales de ese mismo año, haciendo casi imposible para ellos reunirse con regularidad, estando tres miembros de la banda viviendo en Suecia. Roope Latvala (miembro fundador de Stone, uno de las bandas que inició el movimiento heavy metal en Finlandia) asumió la posición de guitarrista rítmico, Marco Hietala de Tarot hoy también en Nightwish, como bajista y Tonmi Lillman fue elegido como batería. Esta formación grabó To Hell and Back en el 2000, e inmediatamente salió de gira con Nightwish. Para ese momento, Sinergy estaba empezando a recibir reconocimiento internacional. Esta gira fue notable tal vez por haberse incluido en el DVD de Nightwish From Wishes to Eternity.

Así entonces, la banda pudo asumir su verdadera identidad con la grabación del álbum Suicide By My Side. Kimberly abandonó el uso de vocales suaves cambiando a un estilo más fuerte y con más impacto. Alexi y Roope compusieron solos memorables para este álbum, como el de I Spit On Your Grave. Poco después del lanzamiento de este álbum, el baterista Tommi Lillman abandonó la banda y fue remplazado por el baterista Janne Parviainen (de Barathrum). También Marco Hietala, presumiblemente por sus compromisos con Nightwish, y fue reemplazado por la bajista estadounidense Melanie Sisneros (de Eden y The Iron Maidens). Sin embargo, Melanie sólo permaneció un concierto, y posteriormente dejó la banda. Lauri Porra (de Stratovarius) se volvió el bajista de la banda desde ese tiempo hasta el día de hoy.

Sinergy ha estado grabando su cuarto álbum, que será titulado Sins of the Past, desde el 2005, y estaba planeado para salir ese mismo año, pero debido a una serie de compromisos, se atrasó hasta el 2009.

De acuerdo con Alexi, Sinergy ha disuelto, y ya no es un proyecto de música activo.

 

A-Mei - Addicted to Love

 A-Mei  también conocida por su nombre de nacimiento Chang Hui-mei  es una cantante de pop y compositora taiwanesa nacida el 9 de agosto de 1972 en Taitung,  en las escarpadas montañas del este de Taiwán y es la tercera más joven de nueve hermanos. Sus álbumes han vendido más de 55 millones de copias en todo el mundo y ella posee el récord de ventas de cantantes femeninas chinas.​ Su debut en el mundo de la música fue en 1996, alcanzando rápidamente un gran éxito comercial. Ella con frecuencia es llamada "la diva de la escena musical pop en mandarín", así como el "orgullo de Taiwán". Ha ganado numerosos premios y es muy popular dentro del mundo de habla mandarín.

Mitch Easter . Shiny Happy People

 Mitch Easter es un compositor, músico y productor (Carolina del Norte, Estados Unidos 15 de noviembre de 1954). Su pasión por la música le llevó a convertirse en productor y músico. Uno de su trabajos más relevantes y que le dio fama mundial fueron las producciones de los dos primeros discos de la banda R.E.M., destacando el sencillo debut "Radio Free Europe". Es un icono de la escena del indie-rock estadounidense o college rock, destacándose en su papel como líder de la banda amerciana Let’s Active. Su estudio de grabación: The Fidelitorium, cerca de Winston-Salem en Estados Unidos ha albergado a las bandas y artistas más representativos del panomana alternativo musical internacional. A comienzos de 2007 Mitch Easter edita por primera vez tras 18 años “Dynamico”, su disco en solitario.

The Dartmouth Aires - Marvin Gaye Medley

 The Dartmouth Aires is an Ivy League a cappella group from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. The group rose to fame in the third season of the NBC musical competition The Sing-Off, placing runner-up behind international a cappella sensation Pentatonix.

Dartmouth College's oldest a cappella singing group, the Aires were originally formed as the Injunaires in 1946 as an offshoot of the college Glee Club. After changing the group name in 1972, the Aires became independent of the Glee Club in the late 1970s.

Although the Aires usually have around eighteen members, group numbers vary on a term-to-term basis. Auditions are held at the beginning of every fall term. Upon joining, each member receives a nickname consisting of two syllables and ending in "o." Members of the Aires pick songs to arrange based on the group's tastes, singing a variety of styles as a result. According to their website, the group's repertoire features "a wide mix of contemporary favorites, traditional Ivy League tunes, sketch comedy, and the occasional piece of opera."

Most of the group's arrangements consist of a soloist, background singers, and a vocal percussionist. The Aires perform at numerous events each term at Dartmouth and locally in the Upper Valley. They frequently take weekend road-trips, singing and reveling at other colleges, performing for schools and private events, and entertaining at Dartmouth alumni clubs. Every winter break, the Aires tour the Eastern Seaboard, while traveling further afield every spring. Recent spring tours have taken them to Aruba, Costa Rica, Paris, Italy, Colorado, a few of the Hawaiian Islands, Florida, California, and Hong Kong.

Recent Aires accolades include winning the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award (CARA) for Best All-Male Collegiate Album for both their 2003 ("Black Tie Affaire") and 2005 ("Impaired") album releases, as well as selection for Varsity Vocals' Best Of Collegiate A Cappella compilation albums in 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2015, and 2021 and selection for the Voices Only compilation CD in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2011. Their most recent album, On Aire, was released in December 2017.

In 2011, they competed in season 3 of The Sing Off, a national reality show. The group performing on the show included 16 Aires from the classes of 2010 through 2014. Out of 16 original contestants, they finished as first runner-up behind Pentatonix, whose rise to stardom was catalyzed by the show.

Mariah Carey - Out Here on My Own

Susanne Vargas - With or Without You

  Susanne Vargas …is a musician for almost 35 years now. She startet in a school-band singing coversongs and hit the studio first in 1984. There she got intrigued with the smell of creativity and decided to become a music producer. Which she did. Since then she produced many unknown but promising artists with somewhat local success.

In the last couple of years she noticed a growing urge to not only be working in the background but stepping out in the spotlight again. After some excursions into different genres, like gothic, french chanson and even country music, she remembered her roots in the 80s and startet the current project “tributes”. Having a thing for electronic music, she wanted to bring a fresh flavour to the iconic music of the neon-times and chose her favorite songs for the album.
