Straitjacket - King Of Pain

 Straitjacket es una banda con sede en el área de Toronto cuyos miembros tienen una gran historia en la escena del hard rock y el heavy metal durante los últimos 20 años tocando en bandas como Mind's Eye, la banda tributo a Black Crowes Hard To Handle, Van Wailin', The Stone Temple. Lucy Dacus - Dancing In The Dark

Lucy Elizabeth Dacus (born May 2, 1995) is an American singer-songwriter and producer. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Dacus attracted attention with her debut album No Burden (2016), which led to a deal with Matador Records. Her second album, Historian, was released in 2018 to further critical acclaim. Dacus's third studio album, Home Video, was released in 2021.

In addition to her solo work, Dacus is also a member of the indie supergroup boygenius (formed in 2018), alongside Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.

Dacus first performed in New York City in March 2015. Her first single, "I Don't Wanna Be Funny Anymore," premiered in November 2015. Her debut album, No Burden, was produced in Nashville by her hometown friends, Berklee College of Music graduate Collin Pastore and Oberlin Conservatory of Music graduate Jacob Blizard; it was recorded at the request of Blizard for a school project. The album was originally released digitally on CD, and on vinyl via Richmond's EggHunt Records on February 26, 2016. Dacus was then signed to Matador Records, who re-released the album on September 9, 2016. In the same year she performed at Lollapalooza, in Chicago's Grant Park and made her national television debut on CBS This Morning.  She recorded a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR the same weekend. In October 2016 she played the London Calling festival in Amsterdam, as a replacement for The Duke Spirit, who were forced to cancel.

Dacus's second album, entitled Historian, was released on March 2, 2018. Like its predecessor, it was met with widespread critical acclaim. Writing for Pitchfork, Sasha Gessen praised its nuance and sensitivity: "It’s not an easy album to wear out. It lasts, and it should, given that so many of its lyrics pick at time, and the way time condenses around deep emotional attachments to other people." Rolling Stone rated the album 4/5 stars, as did NME. Historian, like No Burden, was recorded in Nashville, at Trace Horse Studio, in a similar collaborative effort by Lucy Dacus, Jacob Blizard, and Collin Pastore.

In 2018, Dacus, along with Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, formed the group Boygenius. They released three songs in August 2018 and subsequently announced an EP and tour.^[19] The EP, titled boygenius, came out on October 26, 2018.

To coincide with Valentine's Day 2019, Dacus released a cover of "La Vie en rose", the first in a planned series of songs commemorating major holidays.

In 2021, Dacus announced her third album, titled Home Video, which was released on June 25. She performed one of the album's singles "Hot & Heavy" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on April 13. On November 10, Dacus released her single "Thumbs Again", a re-release of her song "Thumbs" with additional instrumentation, alongside the announcement of 2022 US tour dates. On February 2, 2022, Dacus released a single “Kissing Lessons”, which was accompanied by a music video.

 

Avril Lavigne - Knockin' on Heaven's Door

Avril Ramona Lavigne​ (Belleville,​ Ontario; 27 de septiembre de 1984)​ es una cantante y compositora canadiense. Cotton Club Singers - When a Man Loves a Woman

 El conjunto vocal Cotton Club Singers se formó en 1995. Sus miembros fundadores fueron Gabriella Szűcs, Adrienn Zsédenyi, Péter Kovács y László Boldizsár. Terry Ilous - Ride Like the Wind

 Terry Ilous (Lyon, 20 de febrero de 1966) es un cantante naturalizado franco-estadounidense que tocó en XYZ y más tarde en Great White. Nacido en Francia, Terry Ilous se mudó a Hollywood en 1986 para formar XYZ junto con su compatriota Pat Fontaine. El grupo grabó su álbum debut homónimo en 1989, al que siguió Hungry en 1991. La banda logró un éxito moderado y tocó en todo el mundo junto a artistas como Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner y Alice Cooper. Preocupados por algunos cambios en la formación y con casi una década de diferencia, XYZ regresó con el álbum Letter to God en 2003. En 2008 fundó una súper banda de rock llamada The Superstar Family con Steve Saluto (guitarra), Marco Mendoza (bajo) y Atma Anur (batería). Zhané - Good times

 Zhané  was an American R&B duo, best known for their 1993 hit "Hey Mr. D.J.", which reached No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Other popular hits include "Groove Thang" (U.S. No. 17) and minor hit "Sending My Love", both released in 1994. The group was part of Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit collective.

Renée Neufville and Jean Norris initially met in the early 1990s, while both were attending Philadelphia's Temple University; they would sing together at talent shows and other events. In her youth, Norris' father, Dennis, was a pastor at the Second Baptist Church in Moorestown, New Jersey, and Norris herself was a member of the choir. Although they were not yet a group, Neufville and Norris collaborated on each other's songs. In 1991, the pair met DJ Jazzy Jeff and did their first professional recording together, "Ring My Bell", which was on the same album that featured DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's popular hit "Summertime". Former Warner Bros. executive Benny Medina suggested they become a group. For the name, Neufville had the idea of using the French pronunciation of their first names Jean and Renée, which sounded like "Jahnay". According to Norris "We added a 'Z' for a little flavor and we came up with Zhané." The twist they gave their name is similar to naming patterns that have been used all around the world, especially in Black communities.

Given a high-profile spot on the all-star compilation Roll Wit Tha Flava as their first recording opportunity, Zhané came away with one of the hip-hop party anthems of all time, "Hey, Mr. D.J." After meeting Naughty by Nature member Kay Gee, Zhané (then credited as Jhané) impressed the producer enough to go right into the studio to record for Roll Wit tha Flava. When "Hey, Mr. D.J." was released as a separate single as well, it hit number six on the pop charts and earned the group a contract with Motown in 1994. Their debut album, Pronounced Jah-Nay, produced two further Top 40 hits ("Groove Thang," "Sending My Love") and went gold by the end of the year; it achieved platinum status two years later. Zhané kept busy during 1995–1996 with spots on tracks by Busta Rhymes and De La Soul as well as new songs of their own on the NFL Jams and NBA 50th Anniversary compilations and the soundtracks to Higher Learning and A Low Down Dirty Shame — the latter, "Shame," became their fourth Top 40 hit.

Norris and Neufville released the follow-up album Saturday Night in 1997, co-produced by Kay Gee, Eddie F., and themselves. The release featured the hit single "Request Line." A remix with different lyrics and raps by Queen Latifah followed. It peaked just outside the Top 40.

Since the group's dissolution, Jean Norris married musician Marcus Baylor, perhaps best known as the drummer in jazz fusion ensemble, the Yellowjackets from 2000 to 2010. Jean Baylor released the solo album Testimony: My Life in 2007 and a contemporary Christmas album entitled Light Up the World in November 2011. She later formed an R&B/jazz duo with her husband named The Baylor Project and they released their debut album The Baylor Project (The Journey) in February 2017. In November 2017, the duo received two 60th Grammy Awards-nominations under Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best Traditional R&B Performance.

Neufville hosted an early live internet series called 88 Soul where guests included well-known R&B/Neo-Soul artists such as Jill Scott, Carl Thomas, Kelis, and Joe. She later contributed to albums and videos by the likes of India.Arie, Will Downing, Heather Headley, Leela James and Aaliyah amongst others. She became involved in Roy Hargrove's RH Factor project and figured prominently on the 2006 release Distractions playing keyboards and contributing lead vocals.

Citizen Queen - Killing Me Softly / Evolution of Girl Groups

Citizen Queen is an a cappella girl group consisting of vocalists Kaedi Dalley, Cora Isabel, Hannah Mrozak, Nina Nelson, and Kaylah Sharve’. The group was formed in 2018 under the auspices of RCA Records, with mentorship from Pentatonix member Scott Hoying

Pentatonix member Scott Hoying, along with manager Jonathan Kalter, and arrangers and producers Ben Bram and Shams Ahmed, "hand-selected" the five members of the group. The members of the band "come from different states and different ethnic backgrounds".

Singer and beatboxer Cora Isabel was the first member chosen, after sending audition videos to the arrangers. Bram first saw Hannah Mrozak on season 13 of The Voice "where she made it to the playoffs in 2017 as a member of Adam Levine's and Jennifer Hudson's teams". Bram "reached out to Mrozak" and "encouraged her to audition" for Citizen Queen. The members of the group were "complete strangers before the group's founding", except for SoCal VoCals members Nelson and Sharve’. Bram had been music director of the SoCal VoCals before participating in the formation of Pentatonix and Citizen Queen. Sharve’ had also previously released an album and performed in her home state of Texas.

The group has been identified as playing a part in the revival of girl groups in the United States. Refinery29 stated that the group "kicks down the doors with their powerful official debut, and the perfectly placed harmonies, bass, and vocal percussion on the original song all but promise a top spot for the talented newbies. Forget what you heard — girl groups ain't dead, y'all". Nylon described the group as "Modern representation plus Danity Kane-levels of pop ear-worminess? This is the girl group we deserve!"  The group has been described as "unique because they tend to rely more on their voices rather than singing along to a beat". Cosmopolitan compared the group to Fifth Harmony, and their origin to the movie, Pitch Perfect, noting that "after going through a cappella boot camps and auditions, the girls joined forces to create pop anthems and covers". Fringe noted that the group had "received praise from the likes of everyone from Ariana Grande to Meghan Trainor".

The group reportedly first worked out of an Airbnb in Los Angeles, recording "four fully produced songs and music videos" in the course of a week. Their first popular video was "Evolution of Girl Groups", a six-minute medley of 25 songs, which was posted to YouTube in January 2019. It had received nearly 10 million views by June 2019,  and over 18 million views by August 2020,  passing 20 million views in December 2020.

In July 2019, the group opened for Pentatonix on a nine-week world tour,  with the tour also featuring Rachel Platten. The group went on to record well-viewed videos for "No Tears Left to Cry" by Ariana Grande, "Lost in Japan" by Shawn Mendes, and "Never Enough" from The Greatest Showman. In June 2020, the group performed an arrangement of "Free Your Mind" by En Vogue for the 2020 Pride Benefit Concert put on by RCA Records and the Human Rights Campaign. In December 2020, the group released their first original song, "Call Me Queen", written by Justin Tranter, Nova Wav, and Shawn Wasabi, and accompanied by a music video produced by Lauren Dunn. The group also performed that month at TheWrap's 2020 Power Women Summit. In January 2021, the group released an official remix of "Call Me Queen" by Armada Music artist Frank Pole.

The group's next original song was "No Ego", written by Justin Tranter and songwriting duo Nova Wav and released in March 2021. In April 2021, the group released the original ballad, "Y", reported by the group to have been inspired by a bad breakup experienced by Mrozak. Shortly after the posting of a video on TikTok introducing the song, it was reported that the video had received "almost four million views and over nine thousand comments".
