Yazz - Never Can Say Goodbye

Yazz (born Yasmin Evans, 19 May 1960)^] is an English pop singer, who remains perhaps best known for her 1988 UK number one single "The Only Way Is Up". Some of her records are credited to Yazz and the Plastic Population.

Yazz was born in Shepherd's Bush, London, to a Jamaican father and English mother. She attended Holland Park School, where she excelled at sports, including the 400 metres. She was also a member of the England under-19 volleyball team. Following a spell as a catwalk model, she scored a number of club hits after recording with the group The Biz in 1983. Her first commercial success came in early 1988, when she sang on Coldcut's "Doctorin' the House"^] She soon launched a solo career on Big Life records, a label set up by her husband Jazz Summers, releasing her debut solo single, "The Only Way Is Up", in the summer of 1988. It went on to spend five weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart, eventually becoming the second-biggest-selling UK single of the year. Her follow-up "Stand Up for Your Love Rights" was another big hit (UK number 2), while her debut album Wanted (UK number 3 was certified double platinum in the UK in September 1989 for sales exceeding 600,000.

She had a fourth UK top-10 single in 1989 with "Fine Time", but has since recorded only sporadically. A second Big Life album, titled Revolution of Love, was scheduled for release in 1990 following the single "Treat Me Good" (peaking at number 20 in the UK). The album was shelved, however, when Yazz parted ways with the label.

Yazz signed with Polydor Records, and an album titled One True Woman was scheduled for release in May 1992^[7] following the release of the title track, but was also cancelled. She returned to the Top 40 in 1993, performing with Aswad on the hit "How Long".^[3] Her second album, One on One was finally released in 1994, including some of the tracks recorded for the One True Woman album.

She continued to release singles throughout the 1990s, including a cover version of The Jackson 5's "Never Can Say Goodbye". In 1997, she released The Natural Life, an album of cover versions, after signing with East West Records. The album was released in Japan, Australia and some parts of Europe, but not in the UK.

During this period, Yazz began to reevaluate her career choices: she wanted to give up a lifestyle that included her failed marriage to Summers (their union had resulted in a daughter, Rio, born in April 1990),  and her dependency on alcohol. After she had researched various religions, a friend who used to be her hairstylist suggested she try visiting her church. Soon, she decided to "turn her life over to Christ".

Her 2008 album Running Back to You, distributed in the UK by ICC Records, charted her spiritual journey and her new-found Christian faith. Yazz is now based in Spain, and is an active member of the Calahonda Baptist Church. She returned to Britain occasionally to promote this album, performing songs from it live interspersed with several anecdotes pertaining to her faith.

In August 2009, Yazz performed with a full band on stage for the first time in several years at a church in Southampton. In October 2010, she performed again with a band at Cathedral House in Huddersfield, home of the Huddersfield Christian Fellowship.

A three-CD remastered deluxe edition of the Wanted album, containing Yazz's 1990 single "Treat Me Good", B-sides and remixes, was released on Cherry Red Records on 25 November 2016.

Erik Grönwall - The Show Must Go On

Per Erik Magnus Grönwall (born 3 December 1987) is a Swedish hard rock and heavy metal singer. In 2009, he won the Swedish Idol reality television. During several of the shows, he received standing ovations from the jury for his performances. His first single, "Higher", sold gold on digital downloads after only three days. His debut album, self-titled Erik Grönwall, was released just ten days after the finals and debuted at number one on the Swedish albums chart and was certified platinum. In 2012, Grönwall joined rock band H.E.A.T as lead singer.

Altogether as a solo artist and band member, Grönwall has numerous top 40 hits. In 2018, he portrayed Simon Zealotes in the NBC live television concert production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar, in which he received Grammy nomination for in the Best Musical Theater Album category. He left H.E.A.T in 2020 after four albums with the band, and in 2022 joined Skid Row.

 

MIKA - Sweet Dreams

 Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr. (born 18 August 1983), known by his stage name Mikais a Lebanese-born British singer-songwriter. After recording his first extended play, Dodgy Holiday, Mika was named the number-one predicted breakthrough act of 2007 in an annual BBC poll of music critics, Sound of 2007. Mika released his first full-length studio album, Life in Cartoon Motion, on Island Records in 2007, which sold more than 5.6 million copies worldwide and helped Mika win a Brit Award—winning Best British Breakthrough act—and receive a Grammy Award nomination. He topped the UK Singles Chart in January 2007 with "Grace Kelly". He has since gone on to record four more studio albums (most recently My Name is Michael Holbrook released in October 2019), as well as serve as judge/mentor on both the French version of The Voice and the Italian version of X Factor. Mika has also starred in his own television variety show in Italy, Stasera Casa Mika   which won the 2017 Rose d'Or Award for Entertainment.

Joseph Williams - Can't Fight This Feeling

Joseph Stanley Williams (Santa Mónica, California; 1 de septiembre de 1962) es un cantante de rock estadounidense y compositor de partituras de cine, más conocido por su trabajo en el grupo de rock Toto, que encabezó desde 1986 a 1989, y de nuevo desde 2010 hasta el presente. Es hijo del compositor de cine John Williams y la actriz y cantante Barbara Ruick y el nieto del baterista de jazz Johnny Williams y de los actores Melville Ruick y Lurene Tuttle.

Williams fue vocalista principal con Toto durante los mediados a los años 80 y fue ofrecido en los álbumes Fahrenheit (1986) y The Seventh One (1988) antes de irse debido a problemas personales. Aneessa - Back To Life

  Aneessa was born in Saint-Étienne in eastern central France. Aneessa moved to Paris, France where she studied literature and languages at University La Sorbonne. It was here that she began singing Jazz, Soul and Pop covers, before moving to Manchester England for a couple of years. She returned to France and started a variety of career moves – from starting her own record label, recording studio, Pump it up magazine and a graphic design company. Along the way she met influential collaborators, and branched out into a number of projects on a global scale.

Aneessa eventually met up with Motown producer Michael B. Sutton (Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross), for business propositions for a media company she was working for. This business relationship blossomed into love commitment, and eventually the two began writing and producing new material together, with Aneessa turning her skills towards smooth jazz interpretations. She debuted with a cover of Soul II Soul’s, “Back to Life,” which cracked the Top 10 of Billboard Magazine’s “Smooth Jazz” chart. The latest single, written by Aneessa and Michael, “Just to Be with You”, is about their long-distance, interfaith, loving relationship which bloomed while being far away from each other, and ending up with Aneesa eventually going to visit Michael, and never returning home again.

4 The Cause - Papa Was a Rolling Stone

4 the Cause were a 1990s Germany based band from Oak Park, Illinois, near Chicago.[1] The band consists of the family members Shonna Edwards , Bennie Edwards , Reshonda Landfair and Jason Edwards. Founded in March 1993 under the name Young Warriors 4 the Cause, it took winning The Apollo Style talent contest at school in 1995 to land their first record contract. In 1997, while under the management of Bell Miles and Robert Williams (management team for the successful band The Moffatts), the band decided to shorten their name to 4 the Cause. The band gained success in 1998 with their cover of Ben E. King's hit song "Stand by Me", which was particularly successful in Europe, reaching the Top 10 in eight countries. Later that year, their debut album of the same name, Stand by Me was released.^[3] The group also had a minor hit with a cover of the Bill Withers song, "Ain't No Sunshine". They released two more singles before disbanding in 2000.
